Reclaiming the Minerals Modern Agriculture Left Behind
Why Minerals? Our bodies need minerals — in fact, minerals are fundamental to life. When we die, our bodies break down into minerals that go on to nourish other forms of life on this planet. Electrolytes, when dissolved in water, conduct electrical signals. That electricity is essential for our cells to communicate and coordinate with one another. Electrical activity in the body is what produces and moves energy. For that reason, minerals are necessary for every single physiological function — from supporting mitochondrial energy production to maintaining proper nervous system regulation.
Enter Industrial Farming
Many of the minerals that our bodies need – Iodine, Boron, Selenium, Magnesium, Phosphorous, and others – come from our soil. Modern industrial farming methods that rely on mono-crop culture and the heavy use of pesticides deplete the biodiversity that is found in traditional crop rotation methods. Industrial farming thus produces dead soil with fruits and vegetables growing devoid of nutrients. As a result, the body is consuming calories without nutrients leading to deficiencies and poor detoxification and ultimately resulting in a rise in diseases.
The Body Seeks Balance
The body is designed to heal. Supporting the body’s natural mechanisms often triggers a healing response – in other words, when the body gets what it needs, it can do what it’s designed to do – repair and regenerate.
Support Your Body
Healing is a whole body experience – support the body’s healing on every level:
Spiritual/Emotional Healing: meditation, honoring the body’s needs, slowing down when necessary, forgiveness, gratitude, breathwork, somatic movement, fasting, remembrance/prayer.
Physical Healing: Detoxify and nourish – make sure the detox pathways are open and start with eating clean and eating for balance, nourish the body with nutrient dense foods, and clean water. Eat pasture raised meats/dairy and organic fruits and vegetables whenever possible. Eliminate fluoride from drinking water. Add in supplementation when necessary. A broad spectrum mineral supplement such as shilajit is great.

We like to add a splash of lemon to our morning mixture to boost liver detoxification.
