microneedling pre+post care

Your skin has undergone an extensively deeply stimulating treatment that may have included a chemical peel. Our philosophy is to introduce controlled trauma to the skin so that it is forced to regenerate. While we expect your newly regenerated skin to appear healthy and supple, the process may take from 3-10 days. Here’s what to expect:

BEFORE TREATMENT [within 5-7 days prior to treatment]

Do not have another treatment, unless recommended. Avoid any irritants to your skin, including retinoids and retinol, glycolic and salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, astringents and vitamin C. No Botox, collagen, or other dermal filler injections for 1-2 weeks prior to a peel. Do not wax. Let your NŪR skincare specialist know if you are taking any prescription medication, such as Accutane. Limit excessive sun exposure. If you are a male, we recommend that you trim all facial hair down to your skin to get the full effect of the treatment. Do not shave the day of your treatment as any chemical peels will exacerbate the irritation from a fresh shave.

For any treatment involving needles, avoid alcohol, aspirin, or blood thinners for at least 48 hours prior to the treatment to avoid excessive bleeding/bruising.

If you have had any other treatments prior to your treatment with us, please inform your practitioner. Your skin needs to be completely healed before we perform any treatment on you

WHAT TO EXPECT AND MANAGING AFTER-CARE

After receiving your treatment, if you have had a peel you may experience some light flaking in a few localized areas for up to five days and slight redness for one to twelve hours. Although you may not actually “peel” during the first one or two treatments, you will probably experience slight exfoliation and your skin will feel tight and pulled. Your compliance to your post care instructions will greatly affect the outcome of your treatment.

DAY 1 : Your skin may appear very red today as well as very tight, and will continue to get less red as the day continues. Refrain from applying ANYTHING on your skin for the next 4-6 hours. Wait at least 4-6 hours prior to washing your face or if you have no makeup on you may go to sleep without cleansing. You may moisturize after 6 hours, we recommend a light serum with growth factors. It is recommended that you perform any heavy physical exercise or do anything that causes you to feel hot or flushed.

DAY 2 : Your skin will continue to feel slightly tight to very tight, and may continue to be red. Keep moisturizing and refrain from harsh ingredients, acids or scrubbing, but you may begin your normal skincare routine of cleansing today as well as go about your normal daily activities. You may exercise normally today.

DAY 3 : Your redness and tightness should subside now as your dermal matrix starts to heal and the protein bonds You must completely avoid the sun during this time and wear SPF anytime you go outdoors.

DAY 4-7: Although the redness should have subsided, your skin may remain slightly sensitive or tender during this time period. Continue to wear your SPF outside and refrain from excessive sun or heat exposure.

DAY 8 : You may resume waxing, tweezing on the eighth day as long as you are no longer sensitive. By the end of the second week you should be able to tolerate glycolic, salicylic, vitamin C, and retinol, retinoid products. If you had an advanced peel, you may notice your skin is slightly pink.

DAY 9-28: Your body will continue to build the proteins to heal and regenerate skin cells throughout the entire month and your skin will start to appear firmer and more even toned and textured. Fine lines will slowly start to get filled in. The best serum to apply during this process is a growth factor DNA serum morning and night in order to continue depositing growth factors to assist the regenerative process.
